Adolfo Stokes, son of Captain Edward Stokes the original land grant owner,  built the ranch house in 1871 constructing it from hand-made adobe brick. It is one of the oldest structures still standing in Ramona. 

The Battaglia-Hatch family whose previous house on Corodando Island was haunted,  make the same claim of their Ramona ranch home. It may be the kinetic energies of persons having long ago left this earth may still linger after death,  clinging to the area their passions ran high and human feet once trod.   If  they could only talk, what fascinating stories these old walls could reveal!
